Thornton College has a lot to offer to our students. It consists of very modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a private chapel, a dining room, a cosy café, several accommodation buildings, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a large sports hall, a theatre, a library and a computer room. There are also football fields on grass and astroturf, tennis courts, cricket and other sports fields. Barbecues are setup around the pool in summer.
Thornton College is a very prestigious boarding school in England. It is located in the former 14th century Manor House of Lord Chastillon. The almost 700-year-old buildings have certainly witnessed a lot of history. Surrounded by forests, meadows and a river, the entire school grounds covers over 25 acres. Interestingly, the estate was bought and expanded by Baron Richard Cavendish in 1851. The Cavendish noble family gives its name to our language school in Bournemouth, England, the Cavendish School of English, because it is located in Cavendish Road.
There is a choice of accommodation in single or shared rooms. The bedrooms are very
spacious, actually amongst the largest we have ever seen in any boarding school or
university.
Most single rooms have a sink in the room. Modern shared toilets and showers are just
outside the rooms.
Shared rooms can be 3-bed, 6-bed and there is one 8-bed room. Most have sinks and some
are en-suite. Otherwise, modern shared toilets and showers are just outside the rooms.
Meals are provided three times a day in the dining room, which is located just opposite the accommodation building.
