Future Leaders: Entrepreneurship

Course Content

The course runs like a conference, with students enjoying an exciting programme of guest speakers and workshops.

Future Leaders Entrepreneurship encourages students to explore contemporary skills such as debating, critical thinking, and team work. Students work in groups with a mix of nationalities to build a business plan for a social enterprise that will benefit their community.

Students will learn about how to start a business, considering funding and financing as well as writing a business plan. They will pitch their business to a panel of judges on the final day of the course and the best group will win the prestigious Future Leaders Cup.

The course is delivered in English and students will work with others from all over the world using English to communicate and to deliver the end of course presentation. During the course students will develop their business vocabulary and in doing so also improve their English.

Intensive English

Course Content

Unlike our other Young Learner English programmes, this course has English lessons in both the morning and in the afternoon: 21 hours of English tuition per week by a qualified English teacher. It is an intensive course across English reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

It is not all hard work though – English Plus classes are lively, interactive and fun. Students are encouraged to speak English at all times, and benefit from using the language with others their own age in different social situations.

Students will have 15 hours of general English lessons with the rest of the school then six additional hours focused on improving their spoken English with an exam at the end of their course.

Aimed at practising English through fun and teamwork, the English Plus programme proves that it is possible to work hard and still have fun!

Course Content

Students will have 15 hours of English lessons a week, taught by qualified teachers with extensive young learner experience. On their first day, students will have a placement test to assess their English level, they will then be placed into classes based on their level. Each class has a maximum of 15 students.

During their lessons students will learn and practise their English, while having fun, and developing other important life skills such as team-work and confidence.

Course Content

The course runs like a conference, with students enjoying an exciting programme of guest speakers and workshops.

World Leaders encourages students to explore contemporary skills such as debating, critical thinking, and team work. The course looks at different world issues, which help to get young people engaged in making the world a better place.

Students focus on acknowledging the importance of certain themes like climate change, gender equality, and sustainable cities and communities. The course follows the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals which are a call to action by all countries (poor, rich, and middle-income) to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. Students can choose to focus on one goal and will work on their presentation based on this, which is then judged by the panel at the end of their course.

Thornton College has a lot to offer to our students. It consists of very modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a private chapel, a dining room, a cosy café, several accommodation buildings, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a large sports hall, a theatre, a library and a computer room. There are also football fields on grass and astroturf, tennis courts, cricket and other sports fields. Barbecues are setup around the pool in summer.

General Information

Thornton College is a very prestigious boarding school in England. It is located in the former 14th century Manor House of Lord Chastillon. The almost 700-year-old buildings have certainly witnessed a lot of history. Surrounded by forests, meadows and a river, the entire school grounds covers over 25 acres. Interestingly, the estate was bought and expanded by Baron Richard Cavendish in 1851. The Cavendish noble family gives its name to our language school in Bournemouth, England, the Cavendish School of English, because it is located in Cavendish Road.

Accommodation

There is a choice of accommodation in single or shared rooms. The bedrooms are very
spacious, actually amongst the largest we have ever seen in any boarding school or
university.
Most single rooms have a sink in the room. Modern shared toilets and showers are just
outside the rooms.
Shared rooms can be 3-bed, 6-bed and there is one 8-bed room. Most have sinks and some
are en-suite. Otherwise, modern shared toilets and showers are just outside the rooms.

Meals

Meals are provided three times a day in the dining room, which is located just opposite the accommodation building. 

Facilities

Thornton College has a lot to offer to our students. It consists of very modern classrooms with interactive whiteboards, a private chapel, a dining room, a cosy café, several accommodation buildings, a heated outdoor swimming pool, a large sports hall, a theatre, a library and a computer room. There are also football fields on grass and astroturf, tennis courts, cricket and other sports fields. Barbecues are setup around the pool in summer.

Oxford, the City of Dreaming Spires, has long been a favourite destination for students from around the world. The centre in Headington, just 10 minutes by bus from the centre of Oxford, is a safe and relaxed environment where students will be able to improve their English language skills. The campus is full of character with modern classrooms, a student canteen and extensive grounds. This centre has a maximum of 80 residential students per week. Canteen facilities are on the college grounds, making it a perfect location to come, study and enjoy Oxford. The new, modern student residence is only 15 minutes on foot to the main campus.

Oxford Junior Summer Course

Why This Programme?

This is a programme for junior students (ages 12– 17). Lessons are Monday to Friday, and help students with their day-to-day use of the English language. while also touching on areas of English life such as its history, culture and food.

Our social programme is included as part of this course and offers daily tours, cultural experiences and activities. In addition, a full-day tour at the Weekend, to destinations around the South East of England, ensures that teen learners are never bored!

We offer both residential accommodation, near the campus where our teaching takes place, and homestay accommodation with carefully selected local families.

Residential Programme

Radley Juniors - English & Multi-Activity

Radley College campus, set in 320 hectares of parkland, is situated close to Oxford and within easy reach of London. The nearest airport is London Heathrow, an hour away.

General Information

20 hours’ tuition per week divided between English Skills and English Workshops and end-of-week presentations
Maximum class size: 12 international students*
*In exceptional cases, in order to place students at their correct level, maximum class size may be exceeded.
English Skills
On arrival, you’ll be given a written and oral test and placed into an English Skills class appropriate for your age and level
Develop core skills as you communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Classes are lively, interactive and fun e.g. Royal roleplays – research a day in the life of King Charles, write interview questions, imagine his answers.

Activities and Entertainment

  • Afternoons: Wide choice of afternoon activities including sports, fitness, arts & crafts, music and dance

Each week you choose from a range of global minds projects e.g. British Culture, Digital Media, Drama & Music, Green Thinking, Global Futures, Science & Tech, The Universe and Health & Wellbeing.
You’ll explore new topics and build confidence in important life skills (e.g. critical thinking, problem solving). Learn through researching, discussing, collaborating and creating.

Oxford Junior Programmes - Summer Course

Overlooking the dreaming spires of Oxford, and only four miles from its centre, the Oxford Brookes campus of Harcourt Hill is spacious and set in beautifully landscaped grounds. One of the world’s most distinguished university cities, Oxford has plenty of museums, theatres, cinemas and shops, making it an ideal location for aspiring students.

Sports: The Harcourt Hill Campus has its own sports centre on-site with sports hall, gym and swimming pool. Group leaders may use the gym facilities on a pay as you go basis.

Other: There are extensive playing fields for outdoor games and a Starbucks on site! There is also a modern Student Union for multiple social activities including the campus disco.
