Summer schools in Cambridge are very popular in the UK and it provides too many opportunities. Cambridge is particularly renowned for Cambridge University, one of the world’s top five universities. The city of Cambridge is located northeast of London. Cambridge is among the preferred places for international students for summer schools in Cambridge. The majority of its population consists of students, and more than three and a half million visitors come to Cambridge every year. Cambridge boasts a vibrant and cultural life. It offers opportunities for punting on the Cam River, cycling tours, shops, pubs, private restaurants, and many other interesting activities. Please see the summer schools below.
While the duration of summer schools typically spans around two months, it can vary based on students’ preferences. Students may opt for various summer schools options with the aim of improving language skills, experiencing culture, or delving deeper into a specific subject. During this period, students have the opportunity to enrich their education by taking classes and exploring the city simultaneously.
Living expenses in Cambridge are much more affordable compared to London. Monthly average accommodation costs vary between 700-900£. This fee includes meal expenses if homestay accommodation is chosen. City bus tickets range from 1-2£. A daily allowance of 10-15£ can be considered.
The most preferred accommodation options are family stays, student apartments, and student dormitories. Staying with a family is the most beneficial in terms of learning about the culture and practicing English. Students can share the same house with a family in single or double rooms and become part of an existing system/structure. They can have breakfast and dinner included, spend more time with an English family, and have the opportunity to learn the culture closely. It is also more budget-friendly. Student apartments are the most suitable option for students who want to be more comfortable and independent.
Education is at the heart of everything BELL do. In 1955, Bell opened its doors with one vision – a world united by intercultural understanding. We believe in the power of language education to transform lives, remove barriers and unlock the world for their students.
Bell was founded by Frank Bell, a University of Cambridge graduate, with a love of languages and a powerful vision. Frank’s inspiration came from his time as a prisoner of war during the Second World War. In the harsh conditions of the camp, he taught his fellow prisoners Spanish and French, a simple act of defiance that quickly led to the creation of a ‘secret university’, which taught a broad range of subjects. After the war, Frank Bell returned to England. Reflecting on his experiences, he realised that the route to international co-operation and understanding lay in learning. This led him to open his first language school in Cambridge, which still operates today as Bell Cambridge.
Established in 1875, The Leys School is one of the most prestigious private schools in Cambridge, with many of their students progressing to world-class universities.
It is located in the heart of the city, close to the Fitzwilliam Museum and several of the University of Cambridge colleges, and has extensive grounds with contemporary residential accommodation, outstanding sports facilities and a modern teaching block.
Bell The Leys will inspire students to aim high as they learn the English language and develop essential skills for learning, life and work.
Bell Cambridge offers;
Accommodation blocks are separate for students. At Bell The Leys, there are single, twin and dormitory rooms available, including beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers and chairs. Where possible, the school mixes nationalities in bedrooms, so students are encouraged to practise their English and learn more about another culture.
Access to bathrooms are also separate kids as well as for junior and senior courses. There are shared showers and toilet facilities, which are situated at strategic points throughout the accommodation.
The activity programme is an essential part of the course. It helps students to practise their skills and develop natural, fluent language use. The school afternoon electives are designed to improve communication and confidence while developing academic, creative and active skills.
All Summer Explorer students will also enjoy a wide variety of whole-school activities, such as games, competitions, discos and shows.
There is no better way to learn about British life and culture than to experience it for yourself. Study tours play an important role in Bell Summer Schools in Cambridge way of learning. Students will prepare for their tours in class, complete educational activities during their tour, and discuss them in lessons afterwards. For instance;
