The language classes are held by dynamic and friendly language teachers and offer a good opportunity to deepen students language skills. The lessons at Cavendish aren’t the same as learning at home, emphasis is on practical skills and the class sizes are smaller than at home (Bournemouth: max. 15 students per class – Can be 16 in very rare circumstances). Also, the teaching methods at Cavendish School of English are focused on the fun of learning. For example, games are a great way to encourage students when speaking in a foreign language.

Home Stay Accommodation
Students on the Junior Programmes have 3 meals a day and will be accommodated in twin rooms (unless requested otherwise). There will be a maximum of 4 students in the homestay house.
Please note that meals on arrival day start with dinner and finish on departure day with breakfast.
Older junior students (15+) will be provided with tickets for public transport. Journey time will be no longer than 30 minutes to get from homestay to school.
Younger junior students (14 and under) will be picked up and dropped off by our own coaches and buses up to 4 times daily. Our coaches will get as close as possible to the homestay for added security.
Residence Accommodation
Residential accommodation is available throughout the summer and is within walking distance (approx. 12-15 minutes from school). Rooms are en-suite and have WiFi. Rooms are located within flats of 6-8 bedrooms and contain a common room. The School use the residences of the local university called Purbeck House and AUB House.
Food is included in the course price and is provided 3 times daily in our school canteen or a local restaurant. Please note that meals on arrival day start with dinner and finish on departure day with breakfast.
Younger students will be picked up and dropped off from their home stay accommodation up to 4 times daily including a pick up after dinner to take students to their evening entertainment and then a drop off afterwards ready for a good night’s sleep.
Older students will be provided with a public transport ticket.
6 excursion and 9 day/evening activities per fortnight
Each day is packed with fun-filled activities: excursions, sports, evening entertainment and, of course, English lessons. Lessons can be held in the morning as well as the afternoon and can be held outside in our garden occasionally (weather permitting). Depending on the ages of the students, 2- 4 experienced leaders will be allocated to each coach to look after the students for the whole day.Most of our excursions are accompanied by a fully qualified guide.
This course is an intensive summer course for advanced junior students only. It contains slightly less activities and has more lessons. This course can be used as preparation for school exams or as an intensive course.
For young students, Cavendish School of English organises a complete program of activities to ensure that they have plenty of fun and are fully supervised at all times.
Activities take place almost every day throughout the summer. As well as the sports activities mentioned below, there are also fun activities which include LaserQuest, SplashDown, bowling and visits to a Virtual Reality Centre, cinema visits, karaoke and disco evenings in our Cavendish Club.
Cavendish School of English employs its own activity organisers that provide sports and fun activities on a daily basis throughout the summer. The ETC Parent & Child Programme is designed for parents and their children when the children are aged between 8 – 13. In order to participate in the programme, all parents must escort their children to class and collect them after class has finished. ETC only takes responsibility for children aged 8 – 13 during lesson time.
Parents understand the need to be with their children at all times. In order to be accepted on the Family Programme, parents must also take English classes which are arranged on the same timetable as their children.

The school have been taking care of junior students and providing English language courses since 1966. Junior Summer Courses run from the middle of June until the end of August. These courses are for individual students aged 10 to 15 or 9 to 16 in a groups with their own group leader).
You can book Junior summer courses for a minimum of one week but many students choose to stay for longer. Students have 15 one-hour lessons each week, from Monday to Friday. Classes are small, averaging 12 students per class (maximum 16).
The school know how important it is for Southbourne students to be happy where they are living so that they have good memories to take home. This is why the school chose all of their homestay accommodations with special care. Students studying at Southbourne School of English stay with a warm and caring host.
